STUFF.

Tate has a new crib. I decided that the one I had originally bought ($15- yard sale) was a little too unsteady. I did not want it to collapse if she decide to move around in the crib. I really do not want to be co-sleeping with Tate (unless this is what she needs). Since a collapsing bed just might turn her OFF from the crib.... I got another great one at a yard sale- with a drawer under the crib. I did buy a new primo mattress for her kingdom. I am still working on the Kingdom, but it is getting close to unveiling.

This old one I sold for $20.00....

At this time, Organization is my PASSION. When you live in a 1600 square foot, 100 yr old house, with only one original closet, a gal goes crazy looking for space. Add into the mix 90 lbs of snuggle lovin' pup AND a child in your future, you try to organize and find space where ever and however you can. Since moving in, I have added three additional closets, one I just changed into a pantry storage place. Soon I will be tearing down the lathe and plaster wall in the master bedroom(and I say that with a laugh cause this Master is only the biggest bedroom in the house and it's mine) exposing a 7 foot long closet that has had an opening door that is 2 1/2 feet wide. I have stuff hidden in that dark hole that I am sure I forgot existed. Maybe I really don't need to buy some new Autumn clothes?! I have been using Tate's closet for my stuff..... once I am out of the way, in will move the fashionista's Haute couture.

I have started gathering "stuff".... things that I know I will need but will not realize it until I need them. Since I am thinking of these needs now, I buy.TODDLER TOOTHBRUSH (in PINK)!!!!

AND THIS......
Momma's have written sonates and sung praises about this stuff. When Tate's precious hiney is in need, I will reach for only the best B*tt Paste.

Yvette, one of my SWAC (single woman adopt china) mommas, made a great suggestion to get a accordion file system for organizing all the paper work you take, received, and other "paper type" souvenirs gathered for Tate's life book. As this LONG time has stretched on, I hear great ideas for these life books... In one of the sections I have started collecting stuff. Ziplock bag labeled dirt from China (just in case I want it later), scrap book paper in white to ask for Tate's hand prints and footprints while she is getting this done. And 3 x 5 cards with ideas. With my "senior" moments lately, this is just how I have to roll or I will forget.

I'm so glad to hear that you are planning her lifebook already! Lifebooks are a huge passion of mine. Do you know about ChinaLifebooks soon to transition to AsiaLifebooks? It's a great group of women who are planning and/or working on their children's lifebooks. E-mail me if you want more info. As you can tell, I'm a lifebooks freak. (But I hate scrapbooking. Just putting that out there.)

It's a good thing you're getting organized! You're going to have that girl home before you know it.

Thank you for these ideas! I am so disorganized! The crib is sweet-the kingdom is coming to fruition and Tate is gonna truly rule!

Ha! Just make sure customs doesn't find that bag of dirt. They'll take it in 2 seconds flat!

B*tt paste is the bomb, thankfully, I don't need it around here any more!

We're still working on Star's life book...its a constant work in progress now that she's adding to it! ;o)

I have never used the but paste! I always use Desitin but blowing on the bum every diper change works great to!

Good call on the crib, I'm not sure I would want one that was to unstable.

Your going to be the best Mom!

Beautiful new crib!

Great ideas too for things to buy now as well as prep that can be done before heading to China. Hadn't thought about collecting dirt or taking her hand and foot prints. Ooo...what other great tips do you have tucked away friend?

Ya know, the funny thing about a 'baby' crib for me is the longer I've waited, the older the child grows in my mind. I'm looking at a 10 year old at this point.

I will however need a toothbrush in pink!

Dangit, now I have to keep checking your blog to see if you're getting closer! I'm right there with you! BTW, my advice to everyone travelling to China: take nothing, buy everything there. Except antibiotics for Tate. I don't care what you have to do to get a prescription before you travel. do it. Xanthe was handed to us with a bad chest infection, which cleared up in a couple of days, thanks to the antibiotics. We have a close friend who is a doc here, in case you want a recommendation... Boy, what a rant! :)

The butt paste is nice but it's hard to get off your hands. I like the new crib a lot better. I remember looking at an empty crib longing for a little one. You really do appreciate them when you have to wait. Tate is one lucky girl.

Here is what I think you need... Kukui nut oil.

EvaJun had a diaper rash to beat the band... her tiney hiney looked like leather... we patted some kukui nut oil on her wee bottom and what an improvement!

My girlfriend, who just got home from China with her darling son, is the latest lucky recipient of my never ending stash of this miracle oil and she is singing it's praises.

Good call on the crib. Popstar liked to start her day jumping up and down till I made it in there so sturdy is key. And the drawer will come in handy if not for every day stuff then for toys or storage of "memories". And the Butt paste is a life saver. Desitin tended to burn. Just use a wipe to put it on as it is hard to get off your hands. Island School House was right about the dirt too. They will take it if they find it. This wait is killing me. I don't know how you are standing it.
