TATE'S KINGDOM...

Where Tate will lay her wee sweet head at night and play her days away... this room and in the rest of the Manor in Tateland.

This chair is the inspiration that started the decorating direction of the Kingdom. I wanted something comfy and bright.

Crib is from a yard sale. I did buy a new mattress. The crib has a drawer under mattress. It will turn into a toddler bed. I am not planning on using the toddler bed option. When Tate is old enough for her big girl bed, I want a size I can climb in and read and snuggle with her. The bedding from Pottery Barn Kids (off of Ebay). I plan on buying some peasant prints in China or put up her name... something I made at the beginning of this wait for Tate.

CRIB BEDDING AND ANIMALS
This is what is in Tate's bed right now. I am sure most of the animals will be replaced with a real live sweet baby Tate. The sock monkey is something that my mom gave to me a long time ago. I think I was in middle school.

VIEW OF WALL AND CHANGING DRESSER

Another yard sale find.... Several coats of white paint and new handles and knobs, I have a changing table. I did spend more money on the three blue flowered knobs than I did on the cost of the dresser. After putting things in the drawers, I have decided to buy a regular dresser. Not planning on using this for changing.
BASKET FOR BABY SUPPLIES

Close-up of basket with basket line made by me.....

SAYING ON WALL
Saying on the wall...

WINDOW PADDED VALANCE AND TIE BACKS WITH ART WORK HANGER UNDER NOTICE THE LADY BUG NIGHT LITE

This is the nine foot valance. I made this. Originally I planned to do a white wooden one with scallops. Instead decided to do something a little easier.... COUGH COUGH, the valance was a NIGHTMARE. Mostly because it is NINE FEET LONG. I did learn a lot of what to do if in a fit of insanity, decide to make another one at another time. Probably when H*ll freezes over.
CLOSE- UP OF ART WORK HANGER

Close up of the art hanger for the masterpieces made by Tate. As y'all know, I thought for sure Tate would be a toddler 18-24 months old. With this in mind, I put this up to hang all the artwork from pre-school.

SHELF WITH STUFF
An old china hutch that I restored for Tate's room. The buffet from this dining room set is painted black with pewter knobs and is hanging out in the dining room.

GROWTH CHART FROM LAND OF NOD
The side of the cabinet and what you see from the door way entering the kingdom. This is a growth chart that I bought from the Land of Nod. I love the whimsical feel of stuff from the Land of Nod.
CLOSE UP OF GROWTH CHART
Close up of the chart. The chart has butterfly, bug and flower stickers with birthdays on them. I always loved the idea of a growth chart for a child. Amazing how quickly kids grown and change.

CORNER WITH ROCKING HORSE
At Christmas time I bought a kitchen set for Tate. After seeing it in person, I took it back. In my mind I have an exact thing I wanted for her. So glad I can buy this when Tate will be older and appreciate it so much more. Instead, I bought the rocking horse. This horse kind of freaks Mesa out... especially when it makes sounds and moves.

CLOSET WITH ONLY SMALLEST CLOTHES IN IT

Closet in the Kingdom. This is the one in the room. Downstairs there is a room with another closet and bins full of larger sizes. Did I mention I thought Tate would be older, thus larger sizes. I have received gifts of adorable smaller sizes. Tate will not be naked. She does have more clothes but not hung.

Lisa, Tate's Kingdom is SOOO pretty. I love how you made things yourself and refinished furniture for the room instead of just buying everything new. There's so much more personality and love when it's done this way! I can picture Tate playing in there when she gets a little older.

Also, now I get why you wanted hot pink and lime green for your new color scheme...those colors look so nice in the room against the white furniture!

"Tate will not be naked." Snort!

No surely will not need to be, I have seen your stash! ; ) BUt you never know, some kids just like to be naked.

It is beautiful, you've done a great job and as always I am in awe of your carpentry and decorating skills!

I love Tate's Kingdom! I can see all of the love that was put into each piece that is in the room. She is going to be in heaven! You may not get her to come out of her Kingdom! You did a wonderful job on the furniture pieces! I can already see Princess Tate hanging her artwork up to display. You did awesome!

Definitely a kingdom! Now you just need your little one to come home so she can write on the walls, throw up on the floor, and destroy everything in her path.

You did a great job. Her room looks beautiful. I love Tates smiley picture and hearing about her. I'm so excited/happy for you :)! Call me for pictures friend.

One idea...Dont forget to get her hands and feet pressed in plaster as soon as you get her here. It is one of my favorite things I have of my girls fingers and toes! When you visit John come see me!

And just who wouldn't want to live in Tate's kingdom? It's really beautiful and special. You did a super job, and I think Tate is going to truly feel like royalty. (Get ready, because the first time you see her sleeping in her crib, or the first time you select something from her closet, your heart is going to skip a beat -- in a good way.)

I also love Nod and all the different things they have to offer. The pieces you selected are so sweet.

Tate's bedroom is gorgeous!!! Love all the colors. I'm sure you've already done so - but wanted to make sure you checked that crib is not one of the many that were recalled.

Well this is the post I have been waiting for...and it was worth the wait. Haven't wanted to bug you or add any pressure, but I knew from the bits and pieces that you've shown that I would love it. I think we have some similar tastes. I love all the effort you put into the pieces, you will always treasure those and it's part of that nesting and home building that has already bonded your heart to hers. Well done!!!

I am impressed! Heck- you have been busy. I don't think I'll ever finish Mila's kingdom! Oh well- I still love her a ton and hope she'll love her uncreative mom!

Really cute! (You may want to think about moving the crib away from the curtains and rope like wall hanging...babies are known to get into lots of things we wouldn't expect and these could be dangerous...)

So excited for you!

LOVE IT! Tate is such a lucky girl. It looks perfect! It is exciting to see it all put together.

I loooove Tate's kingdom! I remember when you first bought the dresser & revamped it! Good idea to wait and see what paintings/prints you can get in China, I bought two reasonably small paintings - and absolutely love them.

LOL! You're like me! I only have out Tari's "small" clothes - and have about 4 garbage bags of bigger sizes still stashed at the top of her wardrobe!!!

Wow, it turned out GREAT! I love the hutch. I've been keeping an eye out at garage sales, etc... ever since you first posted it, but now that I'm buying a house and see what Apple's room is like, I won't need it.

Aren't drawer knobs the utter expensive item of ridiculousness? I, too, have a used dresser to refinish, but the knobs I want cost 4x more than the dresser!

I can't wait until you bring Tate home.

P.S. What happened to your white metal crib? Not that I don't like what looks to be a Pali crib!
